Doodlebee's website

I’m Sue Doodlebee, and most of my work is in graphite, pastel, and acrylics, though I also use pencil, ink, watercolour, and other media. I enjoy drawing hands, feet, water, and nature’s details. I find much of my inspiration while out walking in the countryside, noticing animals, people, and buildings. I often think of my small ginger cat, Grogoo, who used to follow me on these walks. When I draw, I sometimes put a film on in the background. Switching my focus in this way helps me return to the page with new eyes. I also love black and white photography, especially when it captures strong feelings and mood. For me, art is more than a hobby. It is a way to relax and restore myself. Drawing is like meditation, giving me both focus and calm. Away from art, I enjoy cooking, gardening, and walking, which in their own ways add to the ideas I bring back to the page.
